Definition
Market Closed refers to a betting market being permanently closed and no longer accepting any bets. This typically occurs when:
-
The match has already started (Pre-match market closed).
-
The match has ended (All in-play/live markets closed).
-
A specific event is confirmed to be impossible to occur.
Mechanism
Close Market is different from Market Suspension:
-
Market Suspended (鎖盤) = Paused, may reopen later.
-
Market Closed (封盤) = Permanently shut down, will not reopen.
Note: Once a market is closed, players can only wait for the final settlement.
Usage Scenarios
-
Pre-match: Usually closed 1–2 minutes before the game begins.
-
Live Betting: All markets are closed the moment the match ends.
-
Outrights: Certain long-term markets (e.g., tournament winner) are closed after a specific stage is reached.
Risk / Compliance Points
-
Platforms must clearly label the market status (Open / Suspended / Closed).
-
Platforms must not allow bets to be placed after a result is effectively determined (Illegal trading/manipulation).
Common Misconceptions
| Misconception | Description |
|---|---|
| Market Closed = Foul play or "fishy" | In most cases, it is a standard part of the match scheduling logic. |
| Can request customer service to place a bet manually after closure | Legitimate platforms will strictly never allow this. |
